The Designs
The PanzerUltraleichtGepack (PUG)
The Gryphonians have applied the ultralight design principles/materials
of kayaks and R/C aircraft to paintball armor. The result is the PUG,
an elegantly simple one-person human-powered PAV. Made of lightweight
but tough Coroplast-brand corrugated polypropylene, the PUG is extremely
inexpensive to own and operate. No motor means no gas, no exhaust
fumes, no noise, no battery, no breakdowns, no trailer and no insurance
requirement. The PUG can be built to disassemble for easier storage and
transport, or hauled fully-assembled in the bed of a small pickup
truck. An entire PUG can be made or purchased for less than the cost of
a turret on a full-sized PAV. All these advantages make the PUG an
ideal PAV for beginners, a safe and reliable field rental PAV, or a
practical "back-up" PAV for experienced tank teams.
